Repairing Damages In Our Floors

Laminated floors, PVC floors, and polished cement vinyl tile (กระเบื้อง ยาง ลาย ปูน ขัด มัน, which is the term in Thai) are modern, attractive and durable solutions, ideal for home, business premises and offices. However, like any other type of floor, they have their peculiarities and can lead to inconveniences.

In this article, we will describe some of the most common problems of PVC and laminate floors. We will also make suggestions on how to solve them.

Problems And Solutions

In some cases, we find problems with the expansion of vinyl floorboards caused by exposure to direct sunlight. Buckling or deformation on laminate floors is usually the result of moisture damage. Since the laminate floor is primarily made of compressed wood fiber, it easily absorbs water; a feature that leads to swelling. Very humid air can also cause expansion and buckling of the slats of your laminate floor.

To prevent the laminate floor from expanding, bending or deforming, be sure to never use a very damp mop to clean. Also, keep in mind to quickly dry the splashes of water or any liquid that has fallen to the floor. If buckling has not been caused by spills, verify that the substrate is properly sealed, as well as having a waterproof layer under the floor.

Another drawback that occurs in these types of floors is mold and fungus. This is usually due to excessive humidity. If the source of moisture is the substrate or base where the floor is installed, you may need to reseal it and install a much more effective moisture barrier. It is not always easy to see if a substrate is really dry before installing it. It is generally important that a test is carried out on the site where we are going to install them to know if it is free from moisture.
